“Little Red’s Cupcakes” Sticker Designs
Final sticker sheet of each sticker design. Original PNG images were individually sent to the client for her to send them in to an online sticker-making company to be produced.
For this project, I was tasked with designing and creating printable stickers for my client, Little Red’s Cupcakes, which is a local home bakery business located in Covington, KY who specializes in cupcakes and custom cake designs. I had to make sure to design them in such a way so that she was then able to send in to any sticker-printing service and receive the stickers exactly as shown. It was my first time designing stickers, so there was a lot for me to learn, but I took on the task and both myself and my client loved the outcome!
When the client first approached me with the idea, she simply asked for a color palette that would match her branding, and baking puns. So, with those two things, I went to work making up design ideas to show her. I decided that four stickers would be a good variety for her, as she simply wanted them in order to sell something more long-lasting than cupcakes and cookies at the vendor fairs she attends. I also decided that she would likely benefit from having a branded sticker with her business name on it alongside the baking puns she asked for, so I went ahead and designed an idea for that as well.
Upon showing her the designs, she chose three she liked the best, and really liked the idea of having the fourth be her branded sticker. She did not ask for any changes at this time, as I told her she could wait until I brought the designs into Procreate so she could see the designs along with the color palette I chose. This is where the biggest learning process began, as I had to research the best sizing on a canvas so the sticker did not come out pixelated or blurry since I was not using a vector program. I also had to make sure I created the canvas in CMYK to make sure the colors all printed properly, something I had never had to worry about previously.

After creating the initial designs of the stickers, my client had no major issues with most of the designs, other than slight changes to word phrasing or blending of colors. Her branded cupcake sticker was the only one she asked to make a few bigger changes to. While I had designed the frosting to look like her usual cupcakes, which she often scoops onto the top to create a domed shape, she was hoping for the frosting to look a little more like a typical cupcake with a swirling pattern. She also wanted the chocolate drizzle replaced with rainbow sprinkles, to add an extra pop of color on the cupcake.
After those revisions, I sent her the final designs, which she loved and was extremely happy with, so she sent them in right away to be printed. She was able to sell them at her next vendor fair, which I was able to attend and snapped a photo of my stickers at her booth!
